Read our conversation below.
AECP: What was your biggest achievement from the AECP’s Next Generation Fellowship Program?
Makyan: The training program at CHLA provided me an excellent opportunity to learn new techniques and approaches to treating pediatric eye disorders, and to further develop my skills as a physician. I also benefited greatly from my experience with the healthcare system in the United States and the resources available in the country.
AECP: How do you plan to share the knowledge you received with your peers?
Makyan: I am a lecturer at National Institute of Health and there I work with residents, ophthalmologists and experienced doctors. I am happy to be able to share my newly gained knowledge with them.
AECP: What is something you will change in your work?
Makyan: I will adapt my treatment protocols and patient management strategies based on the latest advancements in pediatric eye care that I learned at CHLA. Additionally, I aim to enhance collaboration with my colleagues to ensure that we are collectively leveraging those best practices for the benefit of our patients.
AECP: Is there anything else you’d like to say to AECP or CHLA?
Makyan: I’m incredibly thankful to AECP for all the support and kindness during my stay in the U.S. and at CHLA. I am grateful for the mentorship and knowledge I gained from Dr. Thomas Lee and his professional team at CHLA through this program.
