Orran’s Kids
AECP Partners With Shelter to Provide Eye Care
“I get sad, I can’t see,” says one of the young children at the Orran shelter in Yerevan.
“Orran’s Kids” follows a group of children who are cared for by Orran, a shelter for disadvantaged children — an alternative to the streets. These boys and girls have no place to go and many are found begging on the streets.
Orran gives them a safe, warm and loving place to go, nutritious meals, learning opportunities and much more. The Armenian EyeCare Project partners with Orran — and many other orphanages and community centers — to provide preventative eye care services, medical care and eyeglasses at no cost.
If the children can’t see at school, they can’t learn. One little girl says, “My eyes hurt when I read a book.” Watch as the expressions on their faces change when they put on their new glasses and they can see. One little boy says, “I can read now at school,” and another, “I am happy because I finally get to see well.”
