Ghevond’s Story
Sight Restored for Armenian Soldier
Ghevond, along with his wife and two children, live in Vernashen, Vayots Dzor. He serves in the Armenian military and is the sole provider for his family. Should he be unable to work, it would disrupt his family’s livelihood and there would be no one to care for them.
A few years ago, Ghevond began feeling discomfort in his eye — it was irritated and he was very sensitive to sunlight. He became frightened as his sight became worse and affected his driving, reading, and just about everything else.
Ghevond saw the doctor and it was discovered that he had abnormal tissue growth in his eye that was blocking his sight. The only treatment was surgery. However, there were no doctors in Vernashen who provided eye care and could do the surgery and it was too expensive for him to travel to Yerevan.
Fortunately, the Armenian EyeCare Project’s Mobile Eye Hospital was about to make a visit to Vernashen. Watch as Ghevond’s sight is restored.
