The Armenian EyeCare Project’s 25th Anniversary Gala on Saturday evening, November 18, will honor its founder, Dr. Roger Ohanesian, for 25 years of service providing eye care in Armenia.
The evening will begin with a reception and a silent auction as guests enjoy piano music by Robert Duquenel, roving entertainers including a psychic, a juggler, a magician and the highlight — a belly dancer — and sumptuous hors d’oeuvres. As they greet new and old friends, guests will be able to bid on donated items that will include a trip to Armenia, a romantic weekend at the Balboa Bay Club along with weekends in Palm Desert and Las Vegas, trips to almost anywhere in the world, great sporting events including tickets to Lakers and Angels games, special sports and entertainment memorabilia; and special Armenian wine and brandy.
As the Ballroom doors are opened for dinner guests will be transported to Armenia with special set designs and lighting. An authentic Armenian dinner will be served amid the ambiance of trees sparkling with twinkle lights as guests enjoy both traditional and Armenian music provided by Tom Bozigian who will also teach guests a few Armenian dance steps. Arthur Alexsanyan and his Dance Troupe will perform magnificent dances in traditional costume and guests will be thrilled as they jump nearly five feet into the air.
Many surprise guests will attend to express their appreciation to Roger for all he has done for the people of Armenia and Lonnie Duka will premier his film celebrating Roger and the EyeCare Project — “25 Years Bringing Sight to Armenian Eyes.”
Proceeds from the 25th Anniversary Gala will benefit the EyeCare Project’s programs in Armenia, which include five Regional Eye Clinics, a Mobile Eye Hospital, a Center of Excellence to Eliminate Infant and Childhood Blindness, Eight Sub-Specialty Clinics, a Low Vision Clinic and a number of medical education and training programs.
Please join us for a wonderful evening!
Twenty-Five years ago, in the midst of war, Dr. Roger Ohanesian stepped on Armenian soil for the first time. He subsequently founded the Armenia EyeCare Project and has returned every year since changing the landscape of eye care delivery throughout Armenia.
This year, our 25th Anniversary Gala will pay special tribute to Dr. Roger V. Ohanesian and the EyeCare Project’s twenty-five years of accomplishments, on November 18, for his dedication and service bringing sight to Armenian eyes.
